I shall liberally paraphrase and lift a couple of nybbles out of context, for those who keep their distance from certain classes of paper stock:

The writer suggests that SOPs can’t always provide the optimal response to an issue, and hence we should instead rely on ‘common sense’ for an appropriate response. However, that isn’t enough, and—

“Smart people have codified systems of responding to an incident on the ground, which can be structured and taught.”

Am I very mistaken, or are these systems otherwise known as SOPs?
