Apparently, I can’t even link to SPH websites. And article reproduction is S$500/article/year (before GST). So…
Chua, Mui Hoong. (2008, Jun 20). Over-relying on rule books is also complacency. The Straits Times. p. 27.
I shall liberally paraphrase and lift a couple of nybbles out of context, for those who keep their distance from certain classes of paper stock:
The writer suggests that SOPs can’t always provide the optimal response to an issue, and hence we should instead rely on ‘common sense’ for an appropriate response. However, that isn’t enough, and—
“Smart people have codified systems of responding to an incident on the ground, which can be structured and taught.”
Am I very mistaken, or are these systems otherwise known as SOPs?

When things get too big, too fast, and you don’t change to keep up with it..
I’m about to reach my limits on this WordPress mess. I mean, look at #4254 on wordpress.org trac, particularly comment #30 onwards, then read wank’s commentary, especially the 65 comments that follow.
Or, if that’s water under the bridge, look at this post entitled How Matt Mullenweg and Automattic deals with complaints. Yes, drmike might be biased since he’s at the ugly end of the stick, but there’s significant fact in there.
Time to extract a backup, then scout for a new platform.

Sometime earlier this week, I dreamt of people being run over by MRT trains.
There’s an article in ST Insight today about complacency. Dissection later, but it’s not particularly perceptive.
And now, off to attempt a lousy pittance of an essay. If only literature could be compared in a nice matrix like products, soft and hard..

Can you help me out here? Where on this island can I buy moulds and deckles/frames for paper making? Art Friend only has silkscreens, which are fine as moulds, but now I need plain frames. Buying silkscreens then removing the screens doesn’t strike me as very clever.

After a while, the small things don’t really seem to matter.. paper looks and feels smooth, but it’s actually very rough.
Audiosurf is cool.

This isn’t the most dramatic subject, but hey, a HDR experiment.
If it counts as HDR at all.

One week. I haven’t slacked enough yet.. but it’ll be time to start things going again. I suppose getting a ball started takes much more energy than keeping it moving.
Now, you slackers, here are two highly recommended (Flash, casual) games: Music Catch and TBA Two. Give them a try and maybe you’ll see why.
What to do for 3 days of house-sitting with no internet? I suppose I could do all the cycling and walking I want, with all the greenery (plus mosquitos and monkeys) around.. and lazing around reading.. but..
